Model 12 GRS actions vs 12FV

Hi guys, first of all, glad to be back on the forum. Was busy with B school the past two years, finished in August, and finally took my Savage 308 with its CBI barrel out for the second time last weekend, after working up some loads and man, the CBI can shoot! Finally shot a few 0.5 moa 5-shot groups at 100 yards, and a 0.3 MOA group. I was pretty happy!

So I started looking around and noticed after watching some reviews that the GRS 10 has a different action than mine. The cocking indicator is on the back of the bolt knob itself seems new to me. And the reviewers said the action is smooth and easy to lift, which is nothing I've ever thought about savage action.

My question is, while I was absent from shooting the past few years, is this new action better? Is the lift actually better than the regular short action savages? Is the hole spacing any different? My current has the spacing to sit in the Choate tactical stock, are these different sizes?

Secondly, the cabelas 12FV looks like my action, at least from the pictures. Is this likely the case, something that has the side bolt release, and will fit into the Choate tactical stock as well?

The Firing Pin is different as is the screw with the hole in it for the cocking indicator that is built into the firing pin. It makes it a little trickier to remove that screw when the bolt is in the cocked position.
