Savage 10 FCP-SR 308 Cartridge Overall Length

So, I finally measured my Savage 10 FCP-SR 20" barrel in 308 with the Hornady Overall Length Guage. It came out to 2.942"


I have a load that groups MOA or less at 100 yards


Nosler RDF 175 HPBT
IMR 4064 - 39.4 gr
COL - 2.800"
Hornady Match Brass


I would like some advice from those who have a Savage 10. If I wanted to experiment with the C.O.L, what is my first step?

Measure your magazine length too. Now you can try different lengths since you have a good load developed and know how much you can play with. Measure your current round, then try +.010 and work longer. See if it tightens up or spreads out. Can go the other way to. I usually start a the book coal, find my powder load, then play with coal to see if I can tighten them up.
