new here, and just inherited uncle's Model 99M in 308 Win. When inserting multiple cartridges and operating the lever to load, all the cartridges are popping out. Am I missing something or is there a problem with the rotary magazine feed. Any help would be appreciated

First off, welcome to the site! Glad to have you aboard.

You're missing that this is posted in the Site Information board and not the Vintage Centerfire Rifles board where people that can halp will actually read it. I've moved it for ya.

Sounds like someone disassembled and reassembled the rifle at some point and wound up the magazine spring a little too much. Mad Dog and a few others will be along shortly and can tell you how to fix it.

Jim could be right the spring might be wound to tight but check your automatic cartridge cut off on the left hand side of the rotor up against the receiver, sounds like it's buggered. Does it hold the first and second rounds in place by itself alright?

If it does turn out to be the spring tension I can tell you how to adjust it.

Oh ya, if it's stamped "99M" it's a model 99DL. The M was for the monte carlo buttstock. Came with a aluminum buttplate and factory sling swivels.

Thank you for the reply Mad Dog. It does not hold the first and second rounds when loaded. Can close the action with two rounds but when operating the lever to load the chamber both rounds pop out. is there a link to a parts diagram that I could see what's missing

cancel earlier. Found video on YouTube by hickok45, a tutorial on this rifle and am missing the 'automatic cutoff' on the left side of the receiver. Now into parts search and schematic

I figured thats what it was. Even if the spring was wound to tight it shouldn't pop out all the shells.

Numrich will have a Schematic on their website and they should have the automatic cut off to, actually, here, you need number 18 and 19.
