I'm not sure if I just got lucky or what?!?!?

But this thing shoots. I'm not sure you could walk out and win a competition with it, but banging steel out to 600yds is effortless. I made a cold bore, first shot on a torso size target that I doubt you could hit it closer to center of mass with a paint brush!

Picked up a Axis action (complete rifle) from a pawn shop, barrel/brass/dies from a member here, put a spring kit on the trigger and polished baring surfaces, Zombie Boyds stock, EGW base, Vortex tactical rings... $700.00 on the nose.

I shot one group on steel at 600yds that was 3" at most...two were touching.

Someone here said you would be better off build off one of the Savage action, but I'd be surprised if could put together a better shooter than this one!

NICE! I would buy a 6.5-284 axis. Care to share the load recipe?

I like Axises as much as anyone, but there are a few better options for building. It's a platform I and others have had good luck with, but when it comes to aftermarket support, resale value, and knowledge base, the 110 is a better option. The Axis' price point is the one thing that could make it more desirable than the 110, but it's occasionally undercut by models like the 12FV and 11VT, especially when you consider those models are better compared to the Axis II.

My first long range build, Taxis, was an Axis build. It cost just about $1100 scoped. If I'd gone with a chassis, I might have come up with something that looked and behaved a lot like a Stealth (although with a nicer barrel) for maybe a couple hundred dollars less. The major difference would be how I'd have to sell the two rifles. A Stealth I could sell as a complete gun, but the Axis I'd almost certainly have to part out.

I was shooting the super secret load of H4831sc 53.0gr in Lapua brass shooting Sierra 140gr HPBT bullets.

I agree the resale on this rig is not good, but I don't sale my guns unless its a 100% factory rig.

I only own one...Weatherby 7mmRM.

With scope I'm in at less than $1000.00 on my Axis build.

If I had a Axis against a Model 110 for the exact same money...I'd buy the 110.

New up date;

Sat down and worked on my load a little more at 300yds. I ended up with a .800 group again with the H4831 but upped the powder charge a little, to 53.3gr running around 2950fps..
