Hi. I just picked up my new Savage ( my first) this afternoon and it looks like the bolt has been used. Is this normal? Maybe just from them working the bolt back and forth when they blueprinted and aligned it?

Thanks

Mike

Define how it looks "used". They do not come from the factory looking spotless and fresh. All of mine look like they were machined and then immediately thrown in the action. But they cycle cleanly and work fine.

If it was displayed in a store it's likely had it's action cycled many times.
I'm not sure if they get test fired at the factory anymore but I wouldn't doubt if they did.

Quite often new firearms from many different manufacturers will have a light brass tinge of color on the bolt face from being test fired at the factory.
