I have tried two different factory loads, 150 Barnes X's, Sierra 150 and 165's with little luck. The Nosler 180 partition's prtected points shoot great. I have Speer 180's and some Remington 180 loaded and will try them out when it cools off this afternoon.
Has anyone had good results from 150-165 grain bullets in a Savage model 12 BVSS or similar rifles? If so could you share you reloading knowledge with me?
I'm trying to shoot a lighter bullet that hopefully will shoot flatter and longer ranges, Hunting deer size animals.

Mine shoots Nosler 165 gr BT's pretty well out of a magnum sporter profile barrel and I have a load for both IMR4831 (more speed) and H4831sc (less vertical). I have used both WInchester and Norma cases. I like Norma best - better case neck consistency and drilled flash holes, but expensive. I use Fed 210M primers and have had no ignition issues. Both of these shoot well about a half grain under Nosler book max. And I load them longer than the 2.86" book length, but you'll need to fool with seating depth based on your chamber and barrel. I did notice that pressures seemed to rise as I loaded them longer, so go slow and careful...

Currently shooting a 180 gr Accubond load with H4831sc that's looking pretty decent.

I have a Winchester Mdl 70 in 300WSM. I shoot Barnes 168gr TSX behind RL19 with good results.

I have been reloading alot for my sav 300 wsm in the last 2 months. I have a benchmark barrel 26" with 11 twist. The powders that have done real well for me in 3 other 300 wsm's that I have loaded for(win rem sav) are imr4350 H4350 & H4831sc.Your gun will tell you the best powder but all three should do good.I would use the 4350's for 165 & 180's & 4831 for 180 and up. The 4831 works good with 165's but it is slow with the lighter bullets. I have not loaded to much of the 150's so I dont have alot of personal trial and error with those.
But if you want fast and flat try rl17 with 165g of your choice alot of other forum's people have claimed to have good luck with it. My personal trail were ok but the 4350 powders were more accurate in my sav 300 wsm. But like I said if you want fast I got over 3300 fps with 168g nosler bt in a ladder test that I did and I had no pressure signs at all and the primers were still tight also but I stopped 1.5g shy of alliants max charge. I was at 3100 on alliant min start. I tried a few charges and tried diffrent primers to get the accuracy I was looking for but I could only get 1-1.5 moa so I went back to imr4350 it shoots good in my gun and shoots about 3200fps witch is plenty fast. You might want to try the H4350 first because it does not have that much of a velocity change with the temps. With my gun with 64.1g Imr4350 & 180g noslerbt, cci250 mag primers at 2.993 oal it will put 5 rnds in 1 hole at 100yrds and 1 big hole at 200yrds and vel is 3040-3100fps.I tried difrrent primers to get the es lower but the group opens up it is driving me nuts.
Well I hope this helps and let us know what works for you It might work good me too good luck
my es is not what am looking for but hey at 100 to 300yrds they will be drt.

And hell to the yea with the norma brass I used win brass with my other 300's and always had fliers and drove myself nuts then when my cheap butt got the norma brass almost all my fliers went away. It does cost more but it helped me take out alot of variables.
