Went out to shop this afternoon and did my second Axis barrel swap. Took about an hour to do and was drinking coffee and watching basketball while working. This started out as a 243 and back in summer swapped it over to a 270 to use for deer hunting, carried it a few times but never had a chance to try it on a deer. Today changed it from 270 to 22-250 to try on coyotes with the new electronic call got for Christmas. This swap today was a lot easier and less nerve racking than the first one, all left to do in finish sighting in the scope and seeing something to shoot. Probably in summer will swap it to 30-06 for start of next deer season.

You will love the 22-250 for coyotes. I have shot boatloads of them over the last 30 years, all called in with hand calls and the 22-250 just flat puts them down.

I use go/no go gauges. If I'm going to swap barrels to me the only way to go is use gauges, not that expensive.

I used new and resized brass, I would rather use steel next time.

I am not a reloader so I just bought new gauges for the calibers I have. Have 243 (20 and 22 inch) 7mm-08 and 308 that use same gauge, 270 (2) and 30-06 that use same gauge and the 22-250.

Since our snow and cold temperatures are gone decided to shoot my build. First shot was on right to left but about 6 inches low, adjusted the scope to shoot again. Shooting at a large box so I could see where the impact was with a 3/4 inch orange dot, second shot was almost center in the dot and the third shot was touching the second shot. Needless to say I am really pleased with the way it shot, almost no recoil with the stock I had filled with rockite. Now to take my call and see if I can call and hit a coyote, that's the reason for building the 22-250.

Good luck, post up some pictures if you connect.
