Trying to put either a PRS or TacStar on my new BA Stealth in 6.5C. Got the original stock and tube off, and tube replaced. But how do you keep the stock from spinning around on the buffer tube?.

Is there a screw in the rear. Did the tube come with the stock?

Locking nut? Not sure what you mean. The rifle type buffer tube screws into the stock and does not spin. It’s the stock that is spinning on the buffer tube. The screw thru the back of the stock going into the end of the buffer tube doesn’t lock down tight enough to keep the PRS (or TacStar) from spinning. Tried 2 different tubes and three different screws so it’s not that.

The MDT chassis on the Stealth is designed for a carbine stock using a lock nut to secure it (like you removed). To use a rifle stock/buffer tube you need to have an adapter that has the nub below the buffer tube to prevent the stock from rotating. MDT makes it - downside is that it adds about an inch to the LOP.

I bought a Magpul Gen 3 precision adjustable stock and put it on over the original Commercial Tube, should have changed the tube to the Mil-spec the commercial was tighter than hell. If you are using the round rifle tube you can get a standard end plate like here on e-bay. It is keyed so it won't spin, the nub should keep your stock from spinning.

Thank you for the replies and info!

bowfishn - I don’t see how that adapter will work, the stock is not notched for the key on the adapter to keep it from spinning. I suppose I could notch it myself, but I’d rather not if something else will will work.

MrFurious - I may just have to go your suggestion for the fixed stock adapter, MDT shows them being available on the 16th. I’m concerned about the added inch LOP, the PRS makes it pretty long already. I guess I could always spend the $290 for their skeleton stock :nono:

Has anybody tried MDT’s “lock plate”? May have to call them tomorrow and see if they think it would solve my issue....

I wasn’t aware the Gen 3 PRS would work on the carbine tube, so I guess that’s an option as well (but I’d probably buy the shorter skeleton stock for the same money first)

Best is to call MDT directly about the fixed stock adapter, because their site can be wrong.

I ordered a chassis from them and their site said the buttstock in my preferred color was not in stock, but when i called them they had it and were happy to help me.

The Magpul Gen 3 PRS has 2 adapters on the butt stock allowing for 2 options one is for the round tube the other is for the keyed that is on the Stealth, if you buy a mil-spec tube it will slide right on and because it is keyed it will not spin. view below photo, mil spec is .020" smaller in diameter, I had to sand out the inside of my Magpul Gen 3 to allow it to fit over the Commercial tube because it was larger.

You will see when it comes in but the adapter they show on the MDT site is not needed to install on a Stealth, it just has cleaner lines if you use it, but it also increases length by 3/4". The LOP without extra 3/4" adapter is 15" to 16.5"
So it can be done without the $50 Adapter, but I do recommend the Mil-Spec tube.

Just an update, I got the stock to tighten down on the rifle tube w/o using an adapter
