I'm interested in a some optics for a new model 11 Long Range Hunter my wife gave me for Christmas.

I have always been a Nikon fan using them on rifles from 22lr for plinking, 223 for coyote hunting, and my 325wsm I use for deer. I have had excellent results with their clarity and overall toughness.

This gun will primarily be used for coyote/deer hunting with the occasional range shooting out to 500 max.

Whats everyone's thoughts on a Nikon to fit these needs?

Congrats and welcome....Nikon Monarch are very solid and true to the test....Nikon Black looks great too. Good luck and happy shooting.

The Monarchs have always been a great scope in my opinion, especially for the money. While I'm sure there are other quality scopes out there in the same price range, I do do have experience with many of the other brands I have read about on here.

What's going to be the main purpose for this new 6.5 Creed?

Sorry about that... Guess I should have had a bit more coffee this morning... While not a Nikon, I would recommend.

I picked up a Vortex Viper HS-T 4x16 at Cabelas.

I have both Flat and offset MOA bases but think I will start off with flat bases as I don't expect much shooting past 500 yards at this time.

I was pleasantly surprised with the glass the Vortex Scopes have for the money, I think I only ended up giving around $560 for this scope. I really like the positive feel of both elevation and wind age knobs, the positive stops for returning to zero are nice as well.

Bass Pro nor Cabelas had and Dies for reloading so I just bought a box of 50 Hornady American Gunner 140gr Ammo to play with scope until I can handload some good ammo for it.

Now if it will just warm up so I can stand it outside to send some lead down range!

Right on!! I've heard great things about that particular scope. As long as the reticle isn't canted (one of Vortex's biggest complaints). As for the glass, I think they're up there with the Sightron line as well as NF NSX. It should serve you well.

+1 on the Burris mtac. I have a 3.5x10 mtac, and it’s as good, if not better than my 600.00 leupold
