Santa brought me this for Christmas. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/11InternationalTrophyPredatorHunterBrush. I believe it has a 1-9.25 twist.My question is can I shoot 105's out of this gun, or will I just have to shoot some and see if it does.I think I read to shoot heavier bullets, the twist should be 1-8?I will just be using this to punch paper.Thankyou

You can shoot 105's but they are not ideal for that twist. Best I used in a Savage 243 with 1-9.25 was the Hornady 105 Match bullet pushed fast...but I live at 7000ft so that helped. If you want heavy, best to go with a 1-8.

I've shot tons of 105amax and Hornady 105 bthp out of a 9.25" twist. In the freezing winter at near sea level. No problem.
Never tried 105 Bergers or 107 SMK's in the 9.25" twist.

Look into short range bench rest bullets. I think they are all flat base, not boattail. I have a model 11 trophy hunter in 243. Its favorite cheap off the shelf ammo is 80gr winchester in the silver box. I'm not much help, I know.

Never tried the 105 gr bullets with my 1-9.25 barrel, but the SMK 95 grainers are extremely accurate.

Maybe it will maybe it wont. 95s would be a safe bet. 87s would be great at that range as well

H-4831sc is a good powder to start with 90 gr and heavier bullets. H-4831 is the same as the H-4831sc, only the kernel size is different. And same load data applies to both.

Hybrid 100V is a very overlooked powder. If it proves accurate in your rifle, it will extend the life of the barrel. Same thing goes for H-1000.

I have a Rem 700 in .243 with about the same twist rate. I run Berger 90 gr. HPBT target bullets with 44 grains of H4350. I can reliably hit shotgun clays at 600 yards. There is no reason to run heavy bullets if you are not going past 600 yards. I started with 105's and was not happy with the accuracy. I'm convinced the barrel could not stabilize them.

RL22 gave me the best velocities and accuracy with 105-115 grain bullets out of my old 1:7 twist .243. I actually hit 3200 fps with the the 105 A-Max before I got pressure signs. Most slow powders work well with the .243 and heavy bullets, if I do another fast twist .243 I'll buy some RL26 to try next.
