I have a 300 wsm action that I would like to convert to a 308. Can I use a push feed bolt head in this action? Any mods necessary?

A standard head can be used. The ejector ( control round feed) can be left in place, in case you want to go back to control round feed.

You will have to re-adjust the firing pin protrusion and remove the V spring ejector.

Depends on if you have an adjustable firing pin.

What style firing pin/bolt assembly do you have?

With old style adjust the firing pin stop/adjustment nut

Check protrusion with a depth mic or dial caliper by getting the difference from the top of the bolthead to the boltface. Then subtract the distance to the firng pin from the top. This is your protrusion. Adjust until you have .040 plus or minus .005.

To adjust the firing pin protrusion you will need to put the rear of the assembled firing pin down and compress the spring with a tool like a wire cutter or other suitable tool. the locking washer needs to be dropped down and turn the firing pin in or out depending on which way you need to go. In your case it will be in. I believe that one rotation of the nut is .035 or there abouts.

If you are interested in swapping the CRF action for a standard, let me know.
