I am SO happy! My little 110 243 did its part a half hour ago. Spotted movement, which I thought was a leaf, but turned out to be the ear of a medium size doe bedded in some raspberry canes. I could make out her flank, so I put the crosshairs to her and BANG!
She rolled over , kicked twice and checked out.
The 95 grain SST, driven by 44 grains of H4831sc, went in just under the spine, pulverized 2 ribs, thrashed both lungs and the heart and exited. My range finder said 96 yards.
Now 1 deer does not make a pattern, but I have hit deer with bigger ordnance and got runners with similar hits. I was rather worried what the little 243 would do.
Not worried anymore...

Its not that I waited so long, I just had 2 that were better tomato stakes... One more expensive than my Savage, one about the same. It is funny how Savages always seem to come out on top...

I have loaded 243 ammo for a dozen or so 243 for different family members and seen a lot of kills over 50 or so years of loading for this cal. at ranges of 50 to a couple of hundred yards. The favorite has always been the 85 grain Sierra gameking hollow point. One year we took 3 kills to the guy who does our butchering since we don't do our own anymore, all from the 243 and he said what did you hit these with a 300 W. and he could not believe it was a 243.

Oh yeah! Have used that one for three decades and always with H4831. Have seen a lot of comments about that bullet from 243 shooters over the years that have found how deadly that little bullet is.
