Getting ready to install my .358 Norma Magnum barrel to a 110 LA with the proper magazine box and follower. Anybody have any experience with this round on a Savage?

My only experience with a .35 bore is a .35 Whelen I build on an old 110 action. With an Adams and Bennett barrel from Midway it shoots moa with Remington factory 250 gr bullets. I load them to 2500 FPS and 200 gr to 2750. Havnt tried 225's yet. Having done that I find it tough to figure out why a .350 Mag. unless you are going Africa or after really big Alaskan bears. Wvwn Alaska I would take my Whelen. But, if you feel the need go for it.

El Lobo
PS: I put a laminate stock on it and I really love that rifle. Recoil is tolerable.

I have a .35 Whelen that I built for myself on a Mauser Action and put into a laminated stock. I took an elk at about 150 yds with it a couple of years back. I like the .35 Welan fine except for the sharp recoil as a result of having to use the little faster class of powders. I found that shooting the .358 Norma Mag. that a friend of mine has, the recoil is actually less sharp as a result of being able to use the next slower class of powders. I will also get a little flatter ballistics for longer range shots on the elk and moose out here in Montana. Thanks for the infomation, though.

Any updates? Looking at doing exactly the same ... rechamber an A&B 35Whelen barrel to 358Norma and screw it onto a 111.
Cheers...
