I got my new hoped for job at a nice gun shop. One of my winter projects will be to buy their brand of scope for my not yet complete 6BR for 100 and 200 yd target and pasture poodles. It's time to start asking for votes. The candidates are:
Bushnell 3200 5-15X40 Tactical,
Bushnell 3200 7-21X40 Mildot,
Bushnell 4200 6-24X40 Mildot (older style like 3200, front focus),
Leupold VXII 6-18X40 fine duplex, target turrets,
Nikon Monarch 4-16X42 Mildot.
Let the voting begin! By the way, if they handled Vortex, the selection would be made already with a closeout Viper. :)

Why not just call Cameraland and talk to Doug or Neil on the phone and order the Viper. Smoking deal on a great scope. I have 4 of them now, and seriously thinking of ordering a couple more.

Sorry, but you missed my point! I am going to "shoot" what we sell at my new employer. I think he and our customers deserve that. So I'll just keep reading about Vortex and buy one of the others I listed from my new boss. All four of my candidates are also good crisp scopes, just a matter of which? As for the great closeouts of Vipers----well I've missed bargains before and I will again. We all have.

well, then ask him which one he wants to give you the best deal on to review.

Greg;
You missed the "buy from my new boss" part.

If your shots won't be any longer than 200 yards, any of your choices should work ok. I haven't used all the scopes that you mention, but of the ones I have used my first choice would be the Bushnell 4200 6X24X40.

I have a 6 X 24 4200 Elite with a mil dot on my Ruger #1, 223. I really like the scope.

have one 8 X 32 3200 Elite, CH, on my Savage-223, 22-250, Rem6mm ( change barrels, never move the scope) .

if I was buying another scope, for shooting max. to 400 yds., it would be a 6 X 24, or similar. would not go with any thing higher. I very seldom turn my 8 X 32 beyond 26 to 28 power.

just me.

I think the last two posts are about what I am looking for, so thank you. Greg, I may have misunderstood your comment if you meant my new boss. Even so my "break" on them will be about the same regardless, and he likes Leupold but is smart enough to carry other good scopes too. I'm not out to change anybody's opinion there or here, but I do want to prove from the start that I am loyal to my new employer and will buy my scope from them to prove it. On the other hand, I seem to have broken myself of the "Leupold" habit a while back, so----

I have a Elite 3200 7-21 on a .223 varmint rig and I love it. Great clarity and low profile. I just wish it had the target turrets like my Elite 3200 10x40. Just bought four Vipers also... oh, and a Crossfire 4-12.
