I have a savage 110 that has a magnum bolt face. The rifle has the following serial number 34747. It has the old style bolt head with the ejector being mounted to the mag box. The barrel as no nut and is mounted with a conventional recoil lug.

Is it possible to change out the bolt head to the newer new style head?

Thanks

I think you will also have to change the bbl. probably change firing pin also. Somewhere here is a write up on what it takes

Nope! If you compare your older bolt to a newer style bolt you will notice that the pin that retains the bolt head/front baffle to the bolt body is 90-degrees out of phase. Savage did this on purpose when they changed the design so people couldn't accidentally do what you're wanting to do. The new bolt head also wouldn't work with your current barrel.

Basically you would need to replace almost everything on the bolt assembly and the barrel itself to go to the newer style bolt heads on that rifle.
