Not sure if this is the right sub forum but the Model 220 action looks very similar to the model 110.

Is it possible to change the bolt face, barrel and bottom metal on a model 220 and have a functioning centerfire rifle?

I know it is large shank but haven't torn down the bolt to see any differences in the bolt mechanics. Not sure if the bottom metal wil be a easy swap out?
Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I think bolt is larger in outside diameter at least.

I’m with hereinaz with this. Don’t think it’s possible. I think just about everything is substantially different although it looks like a model 110 in outward appearance. I might be wrong. Possibly somebody will be by to educate me.

I looked a little closer last nite. I'll need to replace the bolt face. It accepts a SA magazine. The shell ejector on top of the trigger group should be removed (but will still function without removal).
It is a large shank ( Long Short action!! ) The feed ramp is twice as long for feeding slug shells. So I can screw on one of my WSM barrels.

This is what I can tell so far without tearing it down.

Will a centerfire bolt head fit the bolt? Does it have raceways in the action?

I think that is where you may find material differences. I figure much of the other stuff will be reused from the 10 series rifles.

It's a shotgun.......leave it alone!

It's a 20 guage rifle!

Indiana screwed up last month in the public land hunting regulations so I had to buy a slug gun, last week they reversed their ruling.

Buy a rifle? Hunt with a shotgun.

I enjoy building Savage rifles. I'm just trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation.
I thought it would be an interesting project.
My main Indiana public hunting rifle is a 16fcss, born a 300wsm, and now is a 358 Grant.

It does have a bolt raceway, the bolt lugs are the same diameter but the bolt face is larger diameter.

You'll basically be wasting your money and time pursuing this idea. Best solution would be to sell it if you don't want/need a 20ga slug gun. You'll likely take a bit of a loss, but that loss would be much, much less than what you'd have in pursuing this idea. There's just too many differences and you would pretty much be replacing everything but the bare action itself and there's no market for take-off 220 parts so you'd be hard pressed to recoup even a small amount selling the unwanted parts.
