I could use a little help here. I bought a 110 action with a .308 bolt head and shopping around for a good barrel for it. Found a model 16 for sale. Looked in this forum to find what model 16 shank was and couldn't find anything.
Does anyone know if a model 16 barrel has a small or large shank ?
Thanks,
danyboy

Well, a model 16 is stainless steel short action. Other than that, there's nothing more to glean from "Model 16". However, unless it is something like 270 WSM or some other similar cartridge, it is most likely a small shank. 99% of Savages are.

If you can get pictures of the barrel this may help: http://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?127-Savage-Barrel-Shank-Sizes

I sent a couple questions to the seller and still waiting for answers. There was no picture with the add which listed the barrel as .308 win model 16 never used and price tag was $150. Pretty hard to find model 16 specs on the web. It's just that before wiring any money, I wanted to be sure barrel threads were for a small shank.

My action is model 110 long action small shank with a 308 win bolt head. So, according to you, I assume it would fit. Thanks.
