View Full Version : looking to try cast bullets in a savage BVSS 308

Have a decent, low rnd count BVSS in 308 I'd like to shoot cast bullets in.......gas checked for sure.........what's the right bullet that'll fit the throat and leade right? also, bullet hardness/composition and how fast are you shooting?

c'mon, boys.........there's gotta be someone out there that has had success with cast bullets in a BVSS? or, you don't want the competition, eh?

linotype is what you want to use..and less than 2000 fps i'm sure..they gotta be hard..check the cast bullet forum..

Try the Lyman 31141 bullet for the 30/30, gas checked and sized at .311 dia. Over 26 grains of AA2520. Should get you started.
Then tweek the charge weight up or down till it groups where you want it. Seat the bullet to just kiss the rifling. Make a dummy
round to test the fit in your rifle, when it fits with no problems, load a few and try them at the range. If you have any problems
