I bought one of these Axis II XP in 308 a while ago and even before shooting it looked for a better Bolt Handle. I did some research and picked up one of these https://www.midwayusa.com/product/674002/savage-arms-bolt-handle-assembly-savage-110ba-right-hand-tactical-knob-steel-matte wi (my understanding is a 110 bolt handle will fit an Axis, but not the other way. Anyway it worked great and is a little cheaper than one from Glades Armory but it is one piece so it doesn't come apart.

"(my understanding is a 110 bolt handle will fit an Axis, but not the other way. " Nope. It may bolt on but other things are happening so you listened to an ignoramus. The day you cant extract your case thank him. Try the first question on this page.. http://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?193-Savage-Axis-Modifications-FAQ-s

To be fair there have been people (at least one anyway) who have used 110 handles on Axises without running into problems. However, like robinhood indicated, such a rifle will have no primary extraction. This isn't a safety issue so much as an inconvenience. Higher pressure loads in bigger cases will be more likely to get their spent brass stuck in the chamber, requiring the shooter to struggle with the bolt or mortar the gun.

Maybe you'll get by with the 110 handle, but to ensure proper function consider getting a Glades Armory handle that's made for the Axis.

Just ordered this; http://gladesarmory.com/savage-axis-right-hand/69/savage-axis-tactical-bolt-handle-right-hand-stainless-wblack-cross-hatch-knob.html and thanks guys. Anyone have a 100 that needs a new bold handle? BTW, this is the post I read that said a 100 bolt handle will fit a Axis rifle I guess I should have listened more to "sharpshooter". http://www.savageshooters.com/showthread.php?13903-Bolt-handle-swap-between-110-and-Axis (http://www.savageshooters.com/showthread.php?13903-Bolt-handle-swap-between-110-and-Axis)

Well I just received my new Glades bolt handle and can see an obvious difference (of course the original looks about the same also). I was a little disappointed with the fit of the knob on the handle. The mating surface of the bolt handle side did not mate flush with the knob so when screwed on there was gap on one side of the mating surfaces. The issue was the threaded stud on the bolt side was not perpendicular to it's mating surface, while the threaded hole in the knob was. Not being one that likes to send things back, a little work with a file on the high side straitened it all out, but be warned if you are OCD about things like this, you may not be happy.

The threads on my Glades need minor attention as well.

I can't believe Thunder didn't steer you to his video on threading the bolt handle and putting on your own knobs. I did all 3 of my Axis handles and love it!!!

That's true. I am a bit shameless when it comes to driving traffic to my YouTube.
