I have an axis with a weaver one piece rail. when i set up and mount the scope rings every thing seems fine. when I take the scope and rings off and place on flat table only three sides of the four touch the table. the rifle has larger than normal groups. could my rail be twisted ? had rail on other gun and had problems now that action has new rail and scope and is accurate. not sure if other scope was bad or was mounting or was twisted rail how can i check thanks in advance

You can check for twist by laying something flat on the top of the scope base.

Could be that one of the scope ring "legs" is just short?

i think the rings were uniform. it seemed like one ring was kinda twisted . like not same alignment spot on the scope.

Sounds like a bent rail. Mount the setup on another rifle and see what you come up with. It's always good to place the rifle in a mount and level it, then place the mount, rings and scope then level the scope and tighten rings. I use an anticant level ring also.

Have you tried taking the scope out of the rings and re-installing them? We all make mistakes, so it could be the scope was just mounted improperly. That would be my starting point, anyway. An organic problem with the parts seems less likely, but you don't mention the kind of rings or scope you're using. That's not to say I expect any particular problem with a given make or model, but I wouldn't expect cheap rings to be good indicators of alignment.
