I've got a line on a blind magazine Savage in .270 Win; but the stock is... horrid.

It's got a top bolt release and I was wondering if there was anything distinctive about it so I could look at a picture on Gunbroker and tell if the stock would fit.

Or is there no difference to worry about as long as the stagger/center feed matches the action?

I do not have a picture handy but if you look at the inletting at the top of the stock the sides by the back of the receiver will be symmetrical along the stock centerline on a bottom bolt release, on a top bolt release the inletting on the right side near the back of the receiver inletting will be widened out to clear the release, on mine the widened area is about 3/16 inch wider and about an inch long. hope this is of some help.

You can see on this one where I have filled in where the top bolt release would be.
