I have a Savage M23A Sporter with the strange twist rate of 1:19. The barrel is marked ".22 long rifle". I have been somewhat disappointed in the accuracy with most long rifle ammo since the bore and crown look very good on it. I finally decided to check the twist rate and was surprised that it was so slow. I then tried a few shorts in it and got pretty good accuracy out of them, considerably better than most of the lr ammo I had tried.
So, my question is this: Has anyone else checked the twist rate on their M22, M23A, or M23AA? I'm wondering if mine is typical or atypical.
