What factory ammo is most accurate in your 111 T/Hunter .270 ?

Just bought a Savage Trophy Hunter 111 .270 and was wondering what ammo is most accurate? Also what grain?

I'm starting out with the Hornady Superformance 130Gr

Thanks for your time......I don't have that exact rifle, one of mine... model 11 .308 did well with hornady black ammo... it also didn't do bad with Winchester X... both were 180gr

Thanks for your time......Just a tip, maybe it won't be the case with your savage, all mine required a good deal of barrel break in before they really became true. During break in let it cool between shots and don't get to excited if it's not driving nails right out of the box. When I got my 1st .308 from them I was thinking what a piece of crap, I called savage to let them know and their tech told me a break in procedure to follow (it was very lengthy) but as I was doing it, I could see the groups getting tighter and tighter... it was really kinda neat and fun

Bought a 111FYAK youth rifle with the adjustable brake in .270 from a classifieds site that came with a bunch of different brands of 150gr ammo.
It didn't like any of it very well. At a buddys recommendation I tried some 130s and started with Federal power shock.
I got really lucky with this rifle because it absolutely loves that 130gr federal power shock (blue box cheap stuff) and will put 5 touching at 100 yards over and over again. It was the first load I tried This rifle shoots factory ammo better than any other in my collection so I dont even bother to hand load for it.
If the previous owner had known how well this rifle shot with the Federal 130gr I dont think there is any way he would have sold it. I sure know it's not for sale now.
Over the years I have had a couple as described above that got better and better the more they were shot and "broken in".
In your shoes I'd stick with 130s as the bullet weight start with the less expensive boxes and try a couple of different brands to see which shoots best.

I've always had excellent groups with heavy for caliber bullet loads for my Savage 110' S or 111' S and Federal Ammunition. My Savage 110 in 7mm Rem Mag would group 175 SP within 3/4' S of an inch all day long. I had a Savage 111 Trophy Hunter in .308 that liked the Federal 180 blue box and same group size as the 7mm Mag.

I was trying to say go with Federal Hi-Shok 150gr SP .270 bullets. I will bet that ammo will give you the performance and accuracy you're looking for.

Each gun is different, even if from the same mfg and date lot.

You just have to try some.

Often its a higher priced ammo.

Sometimes you luck out and get one that shoots real well with low prices.

For factory ammo I've had good luck with Winchester X Hornady and believe it or not fiocchi
