Savage 10 BA GRS 6.5mm Creedmoor

I have just ordered this rifle and I am wondering if a) it needs a muzzle brake and b) what is the best compatible?

a 6.5 creedmoor doesn't really "NEED" a Muzzle brake, but if you want one, then go for it. Talk to a gunsmith about what might be recommended. It's the threading that is key to having a muzzle brake installed. Will probably run you in the ball park of $120-$150.

no need for gunsmith to fit it and they work very well.

That barrel is already threaded and all you have to do is screw one on. Getting a crush washer makes it easy to index the brake. I got one of the Mikulek brakes from Brownells suitable for .308 and it works fine.

The Creeds not a big kicker but just put a Precision Firearms brake on mine. Makes a difference, I like it.

Unless you are shooting competitions with it I'd just rock a thread protector. That's all I'm doing and it's fine. I didn't see a need to spend $100 just to make my rifle louder.

The muzzle brakes are pretty unpopular at the range I go to. I've got them put away and just wear thread protectors for a while.

You most likely wont be seeing be seeing your own hits at even 500 yds without a brake.
So if you might like to shoot at some clay birds or other targets on the ground, having one would be a big help.
If your going to shoot from your belly, a side ported brake is best, shooting from a bench any type would work.
