I am reposting this request for help here since I just saw the guideline that ring/mount stuff should not be posted in the Optics forum

I am purchasing an Axis 243. It has mounts on the barrel already. I need some help figuring out which are the correct rings at the lowest cost to attach the scope I am planning on getting. I am not sure what kind they are Weaver, Dovetail, ...?

I'd appreciate any advice you can give.

The scope I am looking at is the Barska Colorado. It is here:

https://www.barska.com/optics/rifle-...by-barska.html (https://www.barska.com/optics/rifle-scopes/colorado/3-9x40-colorado-rifle-scope-by-barska.html)

Here are some pictures of the mounts:

Any advice on how I can insert 2 pic's of the mount?
I guess a workaround until I learn a better way to post the pictures is if you can PM me an email address I can email the two pictures of the mounts.

Weaver rings will work fine. If you are going to use the two-piece bases that came with the rifle, you may find that, depending on what scope you are using, the ring spacing my not allow the scope to be attached. If that is the case, you can get an inexpensive Weaver 1-piece base that will allow you to fit whatever scope you want to the rifle.

I wouldn't go cheap on rings, bases and glass.

Thanks for your quick response guys. It says a lot about the Savage community I am joining.

I would like to get up and going at first in a way that keeps costs as low as possible. For this reason I would like to use the two piece mounts on the rifle right now. How can I tell what rings are the correct ones for my mounts? I have pictures of the mounts right now. I don't have the gun yet. Can someone PM their email address and I can email them the pictures and you can tell me what type of mounts I have? I can't seem to figure out how to post the pictures to my thread.

If they are the standard bases that come on a new Axis from the factory, they are Weaver-type bases and will take Weaver-type rings. Weaver bases and rings are about as inexpensive as you can find, and there's nothing wrong with them at all.

Perfect. Thanks so much Pisgah.

Does this one look like it will work well?

I just finished sighting in my scope and the inexpensive weaver rings seem to be working good.

Thanks Pisgah.

Glad they're working for you! The Weavers may not be as "sexy" as some others, but most of the time they get 'er done, and at a very affordable price.

I would tell you to put some Talley 1 piece mounts on it, but they cost more than the scope  Weavers will be fine...
