Alright guys, ran across some aluminum u channel at the hardware store today and had a thought. It looked like it would lay quite nicely under the barrel channel. Turns out somebody else did this mod in 2010! This would also lay under the recoil lug.
I know there was an article done recently on this but thought this might be the best way yet to stiffen things up.
