Pulled the Axis out of the case and the mag is laying loose, the plastic retaining clip is broken. Being plastic and the front action screw I assume being over torqued is common. Is there recommended torque for the action screws on the Axis? Anybody else have this problem.
Note:
The stock has been replaced with a Boyd thumbhole stock that has been bedded with JB Weld. Three boxes of factory ammo have been shot through it since the bedding job.
Do you mean the plastic clip that is attached to the front of the magazine or the plastic insert on the Boyd's stock? If it is the latter I would get a metal one.

While this is the first I've heard of the insert breaking, it doesn't surprise me. Boyds has been changing their Axis stocks for the worse: cheaper parts, higher prices. (https://youtu.be/UH_Q5kDyOOw) I'm glad they're in the game, because the wood is still good, their other stocks are functional, and there are still relatively few aftermarket stocks for the Axis. However, they've lost a bit of luster.

It's the plastic piece that the front action screw mounts through. I contacted Boyd and received a response the same day. They are sending out a part, said 3-5 business day. Will see what comes. They do recommend 25-30 ft/lb of torque on the action screw.

Both of my Boyd's Axis stocks had their inserts crack and they sent me replacements right out. But it sucks knowing they flex and crack in the first place. I ended up replacing them with aluminum ones and steel pillars...sooooo much nicer, although pricey. I am also worried that my Axis Hardwood .223 will have its crack as well. Those are Boyd stocks and the insert seems a bit different and glued in place. I really don't want to have to chisel that POS out of there.

I've got a 16 Trophy Hunter, getting a Boyd's Thumbhole, but know I'll run into the same problem. Do you know of an option for a metal front mounting clip designed for a 16?? I've seen the V3 option, but it says its specifically for an Axis. Would that work on a 16?
