It has been in my family for a long time but I know very little about it. The patent date says 1893 and the serial number is 3425. There is a "32" stamped on it also. I would like to find out caliber, date of manufacture, any history on the gun, rarity, value, etc. I have some pics I could upload but am new to this forum and not sure how to do it.

Pics didn't work but it sounds like an model 1895, made from 19895 to around 1900. If that's the case, they were only chambered in .303 Savage. They only made about 8000 1895's so it's fairly rare!!

Thats right in the area where the 1895 Saddle ring carbines were made and a few military models, wondering if the 32 is some kind of stock number for the military trial guns. How long is the barrel? Is there 2 dovetails for rear sights and does one of them taper up slowly to the top of the barrel?

Interesting.
