Older 110 W/ Internal Mag Vs New Axis XP 2

Looking at both in 30-06. The 110 is $50 cheaper than the new Axis. What are the pro/cons for each and which would you prefer?

Go with the 110 if it suits your purposes... It is a better model to go with and has many more aftermarket options available. The Axis is an entry level rifle and the recoil lug system they employ leaves a lot to be desired.

Is the recoil lug system the main difference between the two? Not including the different style of feeding, of course.

Without seeing the 110 you reference, I can't be too specific, but yes, the recoil lug system is the biggest difference.

The axis is good for plinking or as just a basic hunting rifle. If you want to change things out on a savage (customizing it) then the 110/111 action is the better one to build off, as the aftermarket parts are more available.
