Rifle converted to single shot, stock question

I have recently converted a centerfeed short action to a single shot by installing one of Fred's loading ramps. I now intend to put the action back into the Tupperware stock. My question is this: should I continue using the clip that used to hold the magazine box? That clip sits in on top of the rear pillar and supports the action when installed. If I don't use the clip I'm thinking the rear pillar becomes non functional and the stock rides in plastic. Am I thinking right ?

Skip it. The clip does not add anything to the height of the pillar, which is what the action sits on.

Second thought. IDK. Will have to look at the factory stock again tomorrow to know for sure. Pillar might be shorter than I am thinking.

You'll need to keep the clip in for the pillar height.
