I bought it from Grab A Gun and it is a 6.5 Creedmoor with a 24" barrel.

i have read several reviews and posts with varying responses from very satisfied to very unsatisfied. My review is as follows:

I ordered the rifle on Momday morning and I received an email Monday afternoon stating that my rifle had shipped! It arrived yesterday however I didn't get to pick it up until today (the FFL dealer I use is closed on Wednesday).

The rifle arrived packaged very well, double boxed.

It was EXACTLY as described in the ad:

6.5 Creedmoor, 24" heavy barrel, Accutrigger, Accustock in FDE, TACTICAL BOLT KNOB, detachable magazine, and scope base.

I wiped the gun down and inserted to bolt, to my surprise the action was quite smooth (not gritty feeling).

I mounted a Vortex Viper 4-16x50 with Vortex rings then loaded 5 rounds of Hornady 140 gr ELD MATCH into the magazine. I didn't have any problem getting the magazine to lock into place in the magazine well. I then cycled all 5 rounds through the action, each one fed smoothly and ejected correctly!

I then placed a target at 50 yards and another at 100 yards I had the rifle close at 50 in 2 shots and zeroed at 100 with 5 more shots.

I shot the rifle 20 times this afternoon and it is a keeper. Sub MOA with factory ammo. I will adjust the trigger tonight to the lowest setting (I shoot an 8oz trigger on my custom 6.5-284). I actually like the feel of the Accustock.

Most of my shooting was from a bench rest but at the end of my session I attached my bipod, just to check for a change in impact, dead on at 100 yards! I'll try to attach a pic of the target.

Congratulations on the new addition. Nice rifle and nice shooting. Would be interesting to know how well it shoots the Prime 130 grain ammo. I assume the twist rate is 1:8?

I ordered one of these rifles earlier this week. I'm happy to see you are pleased with it. This will be my first Savage.

Have either of you purchased an extra magazine? Any suggestions for best place to find one?

These 10-round magazines are proprietary to the Savage brand and hard to come by at a decent price. I just purchased two from Sportsmansguide.com. They had them in stock and the price was so-so. Here's their link: https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/savage-10-fcp-sr-308-winchester-10-round-magazine?a=1924722

I'm considering purchasing the accurate-mag bottom metal for mine. I'm assuming that it will work at this point. I haven't done a lot of research at this time.

FYI Guys, If you purchase/ed the Savage 10 FCP-SR between 4/15 and 7/5/2017, there's a $100 rebate available to you provided you have the requisite paperwork. https://sporting.myonlinerebate.com/11491/

That's very good paint work !

The Savage magazine allows for a very long COAL. Just shy of 3.00" COAL.

AICS magazines have a max COAL around 2.860".

If you handload and the chamber has enough freebore, I would stick with the Savage magazine.

Thanks for the compliments on the paint folks. Here is how to do it:

1. Remove action from stock and wipe everything down with denatured alcohol and paint your first coat on the stock (my stock was FDE so I used the factory stock as my base color).

2. Get painters tape (Frog Tape), I used the wide stuff, cut a couple of pieces of tape about 3"-4" London and tape them on a cutting board, overlapping. Now you have a piece of Frog Tape about 4" square. On this tape draw the design that you want and cut it out with an exact knife. Randomly place these camo cutouts on your rifle and spray your rifle with your second color. Paint the entire stock and DO NOT REMOVE THE TAPE.

3. Cut more designs from Frog Tape and place these on your rifle. Now paint the entire rifle with your third color. DO NOT REMOVE ANY TAPE YET.

4. Repeat Frog Tape process, paint entire stock with 4th color. As soon as paint dries pull off tape and you have a camo stock. Now apply 3-4 coats of clar satin and you're done.
