Is there enough material in a mag or large shank barrel to set back and re-thread for a standard shank. Could you set it back enough to remove the old chamber and still have enough material to thread for standard shank?

Large to small np problem . Rechamber depends how much meat you have.

Depends on the barrel, but in most cases yes if it doesn't taper down right forward of the chamber. 1 1/16"x20 UN 2A minimum major diameter is 1.053", so put your calipers on 1.050" and slide it down the barrel, where it stops is where the ends of the small shank threads can go to.

As to whether it will be worth doing you need to scope the barrel, many used barrels are simply not worth rechambering because you can't get rid of 6" of firecracked and worn out bore.

Add in the cost in the end is pretty high as well.

Pre fit more better.

And you can get a custom green mountain or an off the shelf Shaw for a reasonable price. If I were going to rechamber it would be a higher end barrel that had some life left in it. AGW turned down a LRP 6.5 creedmoor to a 260. Shot very well for a factoy barrel. Back in those days it was a sweet deal.
