Bullet puller

Is there such a thing as a bullet buller that you would use in your single stage press? I have some .303 british to load and the old stuff I have here won't fire. I need to take it apart for the brass. Also have some .38 special I need to pull. Also, what is the best way to deal with live primers in the brass. Can I pull the bullets, empty the powder and soak them in water or something else to make it safer to deprime them? The ammo is super old and only one out of 10 rounds would fire.

A Hornady bullet puller is for a single stage press(would work in a turret as well).It takes a caliber specific collet.For the 38spl,I would use a tomahawk type
bullet puller/remover.For many 303 primers,I would squirt a small amount of WD40 inside the case after removing the powder,let them set awhile then deprime,with your decapping die.Make sure you wear eye protection.Clean the brass in a tumbler afterwards.

I use an RCBS puller they are caliber specific also. I have deprimed many a live primer and have had no problem. Primers are pretty much water and oil proof so I do not think that the soaking would do any good, but to each their own.

I have the RCBS press mounted puller. You will need to also purchase the caliber specific collets for it, but they work SO much more better than those crappy hammer type pullers.

Your old 303 that wont fire may be (probably is) berdan primed...

I got the RCBS with 4 collets on ebay, the puller was used and had 2 collets with it,$20 with the shipping. The other 2 collets cost about $15 with shipping,but you have to be patient and keep watching.
Just got like new swagger combo for $19 and a RCBS trigger gauge for $22 + shipping. Lots of buys if you keep looking.
Now my hunt begins for bench mounted primer.

+1 on the RCBS press mounted puller. I've been using one for over 30 years. Only complaint I can think of is it doesn't work well on pistol bullets with a short bearing surface. It's much faster than the impact puller I had from Dillon.

I just pulled 200 25-06 with a hammer type puller, I will never do that again! Press mounted here I come!
