So from what I've herd all savage rifels where refitted by marlin. Execpt a few early 99 models in 30/30 that where refited from the 24" octagone to 26" round barrels by savage between 1914 and 1920. 10 of these 26" barrels where made and only 3 exist, the other 7 where lost. Info by Charles (buzz) huntinton,, I knew the man r.i.p. . In 1980 he made an offer to a lady who had one of the 3 rifels for 20.000.00 so here is the question what whould those guns go for today ?

No, anything made before serial number 10.000 were made by Marlin FOR Savage.

The other 10 guns you refer to are pretty interesting though, never heard anything about them, any articles or write ups on these?

It was either field and stream or out doorsman some t.v. show, showed one of the three guns and gave the history on them.
