Looking at a new 250 savage model 14. Can anyone that knows tell me what the twist is?

I think the 250 Savage is special order only? Possibly they made a run of them at some time as special of some type.

I am going to guess it is a 1 in 10" twist

The model was produced by Savage for a few years until 2013. I am hoping it was made with a 1-12 or even a 1-14.

I don't see that caliber listed:

http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/14AMERICANCLASSIC

Hornady tested their loads it was in a Savage Model 99 that had a 1-14 twist in Rev 8

Sierra Mauser test also 1-14

Hornady X: 1-10

more recent has been 1-10 or the heavier bullets so have to ask if you can even get it.

If you go a pre fit barrel then you have to decide what weight bullets you plan to shoot.

They were 1-10 twist. Why would you want the slower twist? The older 99's had the 1-14" twist and didn't always shoot the 100gr and up bullets very well. The 1-10" twist fixes that and it will still shoot the lighter bullets just as accurately as the 1-14" twist. 1-10" is the standard for quarter-bore these days whether it's a 250 Sav, 25-06 or 257 Roberts.

Not my gig, so I don't know, the books all showed 1-14 until the most recent ones.

Sounds like the AR thing again.

Still seems like its an aftermarket project as they don' offer that caliber.

10 twist is what you want for sure. I have built a few savages in this caliber using 10 twist Adams & Bennett barrels when midway sold them. Two on model 10s for the wife and the nephew and one on an axis, and they all shoot great with anything from 70gr all the way through the 115 Bergers.

I had one of the 1:10 ER Shaw barrels from Midway. Kind of regret selling this one, but I still have a nice custom 250 Savage on a Mini Mauser action. However, it can't handle any bullet over 100 grains that isn't a round nose. This rifle would shoot them all with its generous magazine.
