I've found Pac Nor to do exactly what they say they'll do. I have a select match they chambered for me in .308 Obermeyer. It cleans up slick and shoots very well. It was produced in 8 weeks, as promised.

Best barrel I've ever shot came from pac-nor. May have been a one time thing, but the barrel shot well

My first ever wildcat was a .25 X .307 stub barrel Encore done on a Pac Nor, it shoots ridiculous small groups. Everything gathered, waiting on the barrel.

I think the 270 or 06 would be a better choice..However I did have a 30 338 for shooting 190 gr sierra
at 1000 yards years ago..But I think your going into over kill with this project...Good luck with your
build if you go thru with it..:der:

A 300 Win Mag or a 7 Rem Mag either one will do the job ver handily.

I have a 7 mm, actually a couple, but the Savage is here, barrel to ship next week. It may be overkill, but the brass (.35 Whelen) is necked down and turned, bullets and powder in place and I should be up and running end of June. Then I will have what I want, how many times does that happen?

You should look at 7.5 Swiss. A shade less capacity than a 30-06, shoots all the same bullets so you can do an ELD hunting bullet.

Shot a 338-06 (non AI, just a run through the sizer) for a while, was really intrigued by the round.

Am very interested in the AI version, really looking forward to see how this project turns out.

Any progress updates?

Got notice that the barrel ships Monday, I will be getting it put together end of next week, then let the shooting begin...

Worriedman If you are working on an 338-06 AI Why are you advertising that you are looking for an A square set of dies?

As I set about necking my .35 Whelen brass down, I was getting bad runout on the AI dies, got a .338-06 A Square and it did a much better job of sizing down the Whelen brass. Once I get it fireformed it will not be necessary!

I have a 338-06 McGowen barrel on an older (1966 area) small shank 110 donor. Shoots fine. 30-06 go/no go gauges work for 06, 338-06, and 35 Whelen. I think it is also good for 270 (but don't rely on me).

After posting I saw I was way out of date (page 1) so ignore my ramblings.
