204 Axis Build

Gathering parts for a 204 build, I have a 223 Axis that I installed a accurate trigger in, traded for a 26" unfired model 12 small shank barrel. Probably buy a Boyd's tactical black stock. Are they any real issues with the fit with the magazine fit and function ?
Any advice would be appreciated .

No issues.

I would suggest a laminate instead of the black. The resin is stronger than just the plywood painted black. Although, my black stock bedded to my 7mm rem shot two touching at 200 yards. It is a 110, but not too much difference.

How " beefy" is the Pro Varmit laminate ?
I bought a thumb hole a few years ago for a model 12 and it was too light may have got the wrong one ?

I couldn't tell you. Mine is the featherweight thumbhole.

I can confirm for you with the Pro Varmint.... It weighs in at 2.8 lbs when it arrives. You have to buy new bottom metal that fits the wood laminate stocks (about $150), which will add about another pound or so.

It is "beefy" though... The grip is nice a full in the hand but not too much, and the forend is a wide beavertail design. The barrel channel comes inlet for the standard sporter barrel, but has enough material left, that you can open it up to accommodate a Bull barrel if you so desire. It is my favorite stock thus far (I also have a Prairie Hunter).

My PV is on a 270 project build (changing to 260 rem)... One thing to note: I have found that the laminate stocks have to be pillar bedded and or glass bedded after the stock gets broke in.

Depends on what you mean by beefy. They are oversized, so to speak compared to a sporter stock. The grip is big, the foreend bigger, etc. Altogether larger. The thumbhole is only a little bit smaller lighter, if anything, from what I notice.
