anybody know what else is close/can be adapted?

Sure it's not a 101.8? I can't find a cross reference to a Ranger 101.9.

A Stevens 53 is the same as a Savage model 3 so this trigger guard should by rights fit your rifle.

The Ranger shot gun was marketed by the Sears Roebuck co.
Cant say who made them for Sears, but a 20 gauge version was my first gun more than 70 years ago.
