I have inherited 3 rifles 2 model 99's and one 23D. They all look pretty old and was wondering g if anyone could give me some info. One 99 is a 250/3000 the other a 300 and the 23D is a 22 hornet. The 300 has a serial number of 626673. The 250 632627 and the 23d 217537. Can anyone tell me age. Not interested in selling. Sentimental value far exceeds monetary

You should be able to match the 99 serial numbers up in the date of manufacture sticky above this, can't help with the 23D though.

I also have a 23D I .22 Hornet. They were made from 1923-1942. Unique design, since the receiver and barrel were machined in one piece, instead of a separate barrel and receiver, screwed together. The guy I bought it from said it was made post war, in 1946. But I could not find any info to confirm it they were ever made after the war. It was replaced by the 340 series in 1946 or so. My eyes do not like open sights, but love peeps! Unable to find an original factory peep for my 23D, I installed a vintage Weaver scope. But I did not D&T to receiver, I adapted a Brownell's universal dovetail base to fit the existing holes for the peep sight.

Go to this sight to find when your 99's were made. http://www.savage99.com/savage99_dates.htm
The .300 is 1952, the .250 1951. Congrats on your instant ownership of some real classics!!
