Diffence in Bottom metal

What is the differences between the bottom metal with bottom bolt release, between model 10,11, and 12? I have a 223rem model 11, in a black plastic stock and plastic bottom metal. I am planning on a Boyds stock, if it will fit this.

Your current magazine has plastic buttom piece with a plastic tab attached to the mag that acts as a retaining clip. It is usually called "Axis style".

It requires a plastic bottom metal piece. $15 or so from Savage Parts.

If you choose to upgrade, you can aqlso get a metal bottom metal that has a spring loaded metal clip attached to the bottom metal and the mag has a metal bottom piece. It is much better, but heavier and about $125.

The plastic bottom mags will work in the metal bottoms. All you have to do is cut the plastic latch off.
