I have a savage sporter 23a need to know how to get magazine out.

You should just have to push on the retaining spring and pull the mag downward?

What seems to be the problem?

Push forward on the bottom of the magazine to get the rib on the rear of the magazine out of the slot in the rear retainer and then pull down on the magazine. They are supposed to have a button on the bottom for you to hold when doing this - that button is not very securely attached and is often missing, if so, you will have to push down on the magazine from the top through the ejection port.

So the 23A used the same mag as the 1922?

I thought they switched to a curved mag.

I thought they switched to a curved mag. Same magazine - they went to the curved on the 23-AA & 1933-NRA.
