Ran across a Simmons model 1047 6.5-20x44 scope locally (used). It is probably pre Bushnell because it is Philippines made and might have been made when owned by Meade. Not really looking for one and I know some Simmons are not normally known as a quality piece. However, the Philippines made might indicate a usable piece. Would a hundred bucks be about right?

I bought that exact scope almost 20 years ago to put on a .308. I didn't have much money and the simmons was a cheap option until I saved up to get a better scope. 20 years later it is still on the gun and has never given me any problems. I shot it this past weekend. However a friend wants to me shoot a long range match out to 600 yards and everything inbetween. Since the reticle is just a fine crosshair it will finally come off the rifle for a mil dot vortex HS-t. The Simmons has been a good scope for me. If you are in the market for a decent scope I think its worth it. I would not bet my life or a once in a lifetime hunt on it, but for playing around its great.

unless it was made in japan i would not pay $100.00 for it. although the meade built ones were decent i have one of their 6-18 scopes and its nice but i got it brand new from Natchez for $60.00

you can still get Simmons scopes that are made in the Philippines from midway USA for $114.99 brand new with warranty.

Thanks for the help. The Midway special is a good price w/ a warranty, but the 50mm bell doesn't interest me. I'll did pass on the one close to me.
