I bought my 10 BA Stealth 6.5 creedmoor this past December, and am ready to reload for it. I am surprised that the freebore is too long to load close to the lands and and the ammo still fit in the magazine. I am basing this on using Hornady's 140 gr ELD match bullets, which call for max COAL of 2.690, However it takes 2.904 for the bullet to touch the lands. 2.904 doesn't leave much of the bullet in the case. 2.800 is about max to still fit into the magazine.
For precision shooting, I rarely load more than .005 off the lands. Even that would leave a bullet jump of 0.209 inches. Is the throat out of spec? Or am I missing something?

The 140 ELD COAL is 2.820". What magazines are you using? I can load them out to 2.870" in AICS mags.

High BC/low drag bullets like VLD's and ELD's have a shorter bearing surface due to the elongated cones (which is what gives them their high BC), so it's not uncommon to have difficulty reaching the lands with them in factory chambered rifles that typically have more freebore than a SAAMI spec chamber.
