Caliber conversion question

I looked in the saved threads and tried the search function, but came up empty. I want to change from a long action .270 Win, to .223 Rem. Will the .223 bolt head work out of a short action bolt? The rifle has a detachable box mag too, can one be swapped in? Thanks for any help!

.223 bolt head is designed for a short action. The bolt face should be the same size as a 270 bolt face... I think. I know the 22-250 bolt face is the same as .270.

.308 is the same as a .270, .223 is tiny in comparison.

Looks like the long action 223 bolt head of yesteryear, is a hard to find part.
