Bought a Boyd's stock for my 16 lightweight hunter. Fit is good save it being snug in the trigger guard/bolt release area. When I first installed the action the rear action screw was too long and protruded into the bolt channel so I cut off a few threads.

Now when I torque down the rear action screw the bolt release is stiff and binding. I did sand down the trigger guard area but if I try to tighten to even 20 in lbs it starts binding.

Any help is most appreciated.

This may or may not help.

I have one that has a spacer back there. I keep trying to loose it as it falls out and rolls around on the floor.

That would explain why the screw was too long, it was supposed to be spaced up a bit more.

I could be wrong, need pictures. Or send me your email via PM and I can post the picture of how mine is setup.

Its a 111, but its the light weight hunter profile Boyd's.

So I looked closer at the stock with the action installed and it's cracked (see pic). I contacted Boyds and they're going to replace it. I think based on where it cracked when the rear action screw gets tightened it's pinching the bolt release. I torqued initially to 25 in lbs so I'm not sure if it cracked on install install or the first shooting session. Boyds doesn't give torque specs which I can understand but the doesn't give me a good starting point. Glad their customer service has been so good.
