Savage 1907-1910 .45 Opinions

This .45 trial pistol at some point has been professionally refinished, the grip panels have some issues, a gouge in one and the other has a crack. The majority of the parts are marked 78, the slide is marked 87 which could have been mistake when manufactured or from a different pistol. The magazine is marked 200.
This pistol is being offered to me and I'm looking for a fair value, any opinions?

Although I have a couple of questions.
Is this pistol a refurbed Military Trials pistol? Is the lanyard loop folded inside the magazine well? Any explanation as to why the checkered stocks are not on it?

I'd ask the historian about that gun, the lines are pretty close to the grips of the originals, I'm wondering if they just never got around to checkering that gun?

May have been one they never sent to the trials, the mag is legit but not drilled out for the lanyard ring, it would confuse me as well.

On page 22 of Bailey Browser's book it shows one like this with no lanyard and slab grips, it's referenced as a test pistol.

I'd bet for sure it's the same thing as page 22, it's legit.

Now to get it for under $10,000.

You won't lose money on that gun, only make more if one day you want to sell it.

Any explanation as to why the checkered stocks are not on it?As I understand it they were all pretty much refurbished by Savage when they were returned from the trials. I believe this is an earlier "test" pistol Models 1907/1910 this one however I believe was finished much later it's a pretty fine looking finish on the gun. I suspect the lanyard was folded into the magazine well. You can see this test pistol with the smooth slab type grips on page 22 of Bailey Brower's book entitled Savage Pistols.
