What Ya'll reckon? I think considering the price of the rifle it should work alright.

Redfield is a pretty good lower end scope, that I can validate. 3-9 is good for a hunting rifle, but the .243 has some legs on it (they do well at 1000 yards). If you want to extend the range out past 200 yards, I personally, like a little more magnification... 4-14 or 6-18 are my preferred magnifications out to 500 yards. For shots longer than that, I like 6-24.

Likely for what you are hunting, the scope will be fine.
If as suggested you are going to be shooting great distance, then don't buy a second focal scope, and certainly not mismatched reticle and turrets.

Most the shots will be under 300 easily

4-12 is my vote.... At 200 yards with my Bushnell on 12X, I can see the small diamonds on the paper targets that are located in the corners... they are about 2-3 inches tall and about 2 inches wide. a 9X covers the diamond with the reticle crosshairs (Nikon BDC) at 200 yards.

I do a weird style of shooting where I really need low power as well as high

Buddy It really depends on location. I like a 3x9 or 2.5 x 10 or a 4x16 for hunting. Id never go higher than 4 power on low. I alway keep mine on lowest because I kill alot of game right on top of me. I hunt on ground alot and I wear a ghillie and am a freak about scent. Ive killed deer at 4 feet off the ground. So Low power is just as important as high. Folks get all into how good it is at 500 yard. Yeah good fine. But what a out at 5 yards at 5:55 pm on a december evening on the best buck you have seen? And you got a 6x24 power scope that bucks going to be around a bit longer thats what happens. Id preferred a 3x9 Redfield over any 6x24. At that time.

I have the Revolution 3-12 and like it.

When I was hunting it was all on 3 power no matter what the range. High power was for scouting.

While it works for me, the only downside is the thick cross hairs. Very good hunting, not as good target shooting.
