Savage model 99m in 308

M stands for monte carlo stock. It was on a number of different models. There is no model M, even though, I know, it is marked that way.

A 99M marked Savage 99 is the Savage 99DL.

Mad Dog, for some reason I'm thinking the PE, DE, maybe CD and some late F's were marked "M", or did I have a senior moment? :)

Senior moment, the F's were marked 99F on the right hand side of the barrel, definitely not the CD's and I've never owned a PE or DE but unless they used DL barrels on them they wouldn't be marked 99M.

I know where I saw it now, David Royals book states the DE and PE were marked as such. Not sure where I came up with the other two! :)

3/4 of the info in his book came from guys I personally know so I never figured I needed it.
