Model 12 L/H .223 no accu-trigger

Hi Folk's, First post. Need expert input. I was at the LGS today & they had just put out a Savage mdl 12 in .223, it is a left hand bolt in stainless with a fluted barrel & black plastic stock. It does not have a accu-trigger. It has a BSA high powered scope on it (which will go away) They want $385.00 OTD. Everything looks good and shows little use. A few scuff marks on the barrel I think I can buff them out. Any idea of the vintage of this rifle and thoughts on if it's a good deal or not. Thank's-Dave

It's a three-screw trigger then, which IMO is a much better affair anyhow.
As far as a good "deal", that's kind of up to you. Up in this neck of the woods, a used savage is $300-350 all day long.

Stainless, with a fluted HB in good shape, not a bad deal. A 30-06 in blue is 300 to 350 the norm. Sometimes sub 300 on GunBroker.com including shipping.

A Boyds stock and a 19, 19.5 or 20 piano wire trigger spring and you re good to go.

Thank's for the replies Folk's, I found the place on this site to date the rifle- it's a 2002. Any idea what the twist is? Also, I looked on Boyd's website & couldn't find any left hand stocks. Never been on it so I might've missed something. Thank's again-Dave

Here are some lefty options from Boyds. I don't know all the specifics of your rifle, but did a search for Savage 12 left hand, top bolt release.

It should get you started anyway.... And the twist is probably around 1 in 9, but not 100% sure.

You can check the twist with a brush and a cleaning rod.

For button rifled barrels, I believe it can vary a half an inch longer or shorter than the listed twist rate.
