Hey guys just traded for a model 112 in 223. It was bought new in about 1996. It has 24 inch heavy stanless fluted barrel, blued action, cheap black plastic stock.
Any ideas on the rate of twist? I called Savage Historical Information # a recording said they no longer offer that service.
Thanks

Put a wet cleaning patch on the end of your jag and measure the length it takes to turn the rod one full turn.

Put a piece of masking tap on the rod with a pen mark so it's easy to know when you've gone one full turn.

I'm gonna guess 1:12, let me know if I win :D

Thanks guys. Nefarious you are the winner! I was hoping for 1:9 twist. I have some 75 grain A-max that are too long for my 1:8 AR-15. I could load single but that ain’t no fun ;)
I can smell a 22-6mm in the future.
